Rod – Guitar

Rod Griffith started playing the guitar in high school and is mostly self-taught. In the late 60’s he managed the band “The Sound Effect” which won battle of the bands in 1969. He performed with “Poppin’ J” a seven piece horn band, Dr. Feelgood, an eight piece Funk band that traveled five states, and Crosstown, six pieces that became one of Omaha’s top R&B groups. You will also find him as a steady stand-in for many bands performing in Omaha today.

Rod is heavily influenced by today’s top R&B and Smooth Jazz artists, such as Jeff Golub, Larry Carlton, and Norman Brown. He is especially inspired to be a part of Higher Pursuit because it gives him the opportunity to express his musical talents in a top-notch band and promote Smooth Jazz to a wider local audience.

When he isn’t performing, Rod is the Marketing Director for a global Electrification Manufacturer and he has his MBA, from UNO. Rod is the father of three children that are his true inspiration.
