Bill - Bass

Bill Sammon has been an accomplished musician for almost 30 years. Completely self-taught, he started with a “new wave” rock band in the late ’70′s and has since performed in bands playing everything from classic rock and blues to top 40 country. While enlisted in the Air Force, he competed in national competitions and also performed with a number of military and civilian bands. In recent years, Bill has focused on contemporary worship music and has contributed to the worship teams in number of local churches, playing bass, drums or acoustic guitar, as needed.

He gets his inspiration for playing from bassists like James Jamerson of Motown, Paul McCartney, Jaco Pastorius, Nashville session player Glenn Worf, and also John Entwistle of The Who. Bill also credits drummers such as Gene Krupa, Billy Cobham, Charlie Watts, Ringo, Jim Keltner, and yes, Micky Dolenz for their early rhythmic influences.

When asked about participating in Higher Pursuit, Bill says “I welcome the opportunity to use the gifts that God has given me to take my playing to new places that would praise Him.”

Bill is married to his wife Patty and they have two grown children.
